Nestled on a hilltop and set within serene, indigenous gardens affording breathtaking panoramic views of the Bay of Maputo and Ilha das Portugueses, Nahyeeni Private Lodge on Inhaca Island in Mocambique is located within its own exclusive grounds and is the perfect place to relax and unwind in complete privacy, whilst still offering a tropical Island adventure with a wealth of breathtaking beaches, coral reefs and exotic marine life.
The Accomodation: A Private Lodge
Currently offering self catering facilities with the ability to accommodate up to a maximum of 12 people, Nahyeeni Lodge main house (Beluga) has an imposing thatched roof made from the locally grown majeka reed, incorporating 2 en-suite bedrooms – one with a double bed and a sumptuous bath, whilst the second offers 2 single beds with en suite shower.
A stunning open plan fully modern kitchen/lounge/dining room is complemented with truly outstanding panoramic views overlooking the Bay of Maputo on the western side of Inhaca Island – Maputo can be viewed twinkling in the distance some 40kms away!Â
An upstairs area incorporates a further 2 single beds, with the bedroom affording incredible views of the interior of Inhaca Island as far away as the lighthouse (Farol) on the northern tip. A cozy reading nook, with a small but fascinating library selection, with particular emphasis on marine life, further enhances the upstairs facility. A full DSTV bouquet, ice making machine, fresh drinking water facility, tea, coffee and a limited assortment of condiments are all available.
Privately nestled in the surrounding bush area, 2 open plan thatched cottages await the intrepid traveler – Chalet Dugong consists of a double bed with en suite bathroom, whilst Chalet Orca offers 2 single beds and en suite bathroom. Both of these cottages have access to a further bed which either 2 children or an extra adult could also be accommodated.
The entertainment area consists of a very large fresh water swimming pool with bar, braai, serving and open fire facilities, with a cozy thatched dining area located alongside, all conveniently overlooking the magnificent Indian Ocean. Charcoal and firewood / logs are complimentary.
A wooden deck stretches out over the edge of the hill and splits into 2 areas, one has a private hammock for your relaxation, whilst the other affords incredible panoramic views and sunsets that will remain imbedded on the memory for years to come.
Although a self catering Lodge at this time, Nahyeeni employs 2 permanent maids and a gardener/maintenance man available on duty every day for your convenience, whilst 2 guards oversee the property during the night hours. A laundry service is also available.
