Pomene Ridge Pomene location, directions, satelite map
Pomene Ridge is 650 Km North of Maputo and 170 Km South of Vilanculos. The turnoff from the South is about 8 km North of Massinga. The main road is generally in good condition both from Maputo and from Mutare.
Pomene is about 50 kms off the main road. For travellers from the North there is a different route which is slightly shorter.
It is possible to travel to Pomene Ridge in a 2 x 4 pickup, though anyone towing a trailer would need a 4 x 4. I have successfully negotiated the route towing a large ocean going Cat with twin 85hp outboard motors.
Specific directions will be provided to you to negotiate the dirt road including GPS co-ordinates. Owing to the large number of branch roads, first time travellers should not arrive at night.
