Property Amenities

The House of the Rising Sun is situated in a small resort called Cumbini, named after the Chief of the area. Bricked and thatched with authentic Mozambique materials, this home is made up of 4 modern rustic bedrooms, with comfortable Sealy mattresses; each tastefully decorated with fun bright colours?something out of the ordinary.

The rooms are also decorated with artists impressions of the area, a little piece of the view of the house. Something personal! There are two bathrooms, placed on either side of the house, endowed with showers and a basin that is locally made with clay and poses a rustic feel to the room.

The kitchen and lounge is open plan leading out to the veranda edged by the beach. All have the most beautiful sea views and much needed on-shore breezes. The lounge is adorned with furniture designed and manufactured in Mozambique, by the local communities. The kitchen, which is fully equipped with a stove, refrigerator and deep freezer includes your cutlery along with pots and pans. A unique element to the kitchen is the crockery, which was imported from Zimbabwe; each item is different, different sizes, shapes, colours and patterns?something truly unique.

The veranda, probably the most used area of the house, faces the beach and leads onto a wooden deck that allows for sun tanning on the sun lounges and socialisation without too much sand. The perfect place for sundowners! If the sand is the place for you, wooden stairs walk down the hill and to the sea. Adjoined to the deck is another entertainment area, more for the men though, this being the braai area. The deck is also equipped with an outside shower, to rinse off the sand and salt or purely to cool down.

Our accommodation is also serviced by friendly, trusting staff from the surrounding area. The house is cleaned everyday and is also watched by security guards from within the area, so that you can leave your belongings outside without a worry to them being stolen. The House of the Rising Sun is what one would call, modern rustic and is geared for your holiday enjoyment!
