Casa Mercia is a big double story thatch roof casa, situated in the Bela Vista lodge development. The casa has four rooms, two bathrooms, one of which has an outdoor shower (excellent for those hot Mozambican nights) and can sleep up to 8 people.

The spacious kitchen and living area is an open plan design and has stunning views of the surrounding area. Bela Vista Lodge offers high quality accommodation, exquisite views and first class service in a beautiful setting. Bela Vista is in close proximity of all popular activities such as diving, fishing, surfing, sailing or you could just laze about on any of the long outstretched beaches. Everything is simply a couple of minutes away.

Barra is about 500km north of Maputo and is adjacent to the Inhambane peninsula. Barra has pristine, secluded beaches and is almost entirely surrounded by the clear waters of the Indian Ocean. The water is warm and clear and perfect to have the maximum amount of fun in and has ideal swimming beaches. Barra boasts some of the best reefs in the world for divers. The nearby reefs are home to hundreds of fish species including the manta ray and the whale shark.

At Barra you will experience Mozambique at its best as you laze away the hours under the gently swaying coconut palm trees. If you like fishing or diving, you can hire a boat at Barra or Tofo village or go with one of the many dive charters going out daily. Tofo also has some of the best surfing beaches in Mozambique and more often than not will you be joined by bottlenose dolphins

Area Attractions

Diving

Barra and Tofo have some of the best all year round diving reefs. The reefs are renowned for the diverse underwater wildlife, including the main attraction, the Manta Ray. Running in to a couple of whale sharks is a common occurrence and for those non divers, you can go on a whale and dolphin watching trip or whale shark snorkeling.
If you are keen to learn how to dive you can also take your beginner PADI Open Water Diver course and even continue your training right through to Instructor if you choose. The five star PADI IDC centers offer excellent diving courses.

Fishing

If you are the fishing enthusiast you can always head down to Tofo and join one of the many fishing charters to take you and your friends out for some deep sea fishing as Tofo and Barra is known for its excellent game fishing.

Kayaking

Various places at Barra Beach rent out kayaks and it?s the perfect way to explore the mangroves and waterways of placid Barra Lagoon which are teeming with bird life including stunning pink flamingos.

Horseback Riding

Spend the morning or afternoon exploring the local countryside, and beaches on horseback, it?s also a great way to see a little more of the life and culture of the local villagers. Rides are usually between one and a one and a half hours, the horses are relaxed and well looked after and the guides are knowledgeable and experienced. Beginners can ride at a gentle walk or for the more experienced, enjoy a gallop along the beach through the surf.

Surfing

Tofo, Tofinho and Back Door beaches, just a short distance from Barra Beach, are renowned for being the best surf beaches in Mozambique. The waves in Tofo are perfect for beginners and for the more experienced. If you don't have your board you can rent one from various surf shops in the area and some also provide lessons. If you are lucky, you could find yourself sharing your waves with the many local dolphins and sometimes Whale Sharks come in close enough to enjoy the swell.
